R10 WIE Special Support Fund (2)

IEEE Region 10 WIE ATHEnA Project #2 - Theme:  STEAM for Schools

Objectives

One of the goals of WIE is to promote STEAM education among women and encourage women to consider career paths in STEAM.  It is essential to look at the pre-university aspect when we talk about STEAM education.

Science , Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics – STEAM.

At the regional level, the best way to reach secondary educational institutes is through delegation to the section AGs.  R10 WIE proposes “Advancing Technology for Humanity – Engineers in Action (ATHEnA) Project #2 – STEAM for Schools” to provide funding support to the section AGs to conduct STEAM workshops, seminars and awareness programs to school children.

The project aims to:

  • Encourage next generation women to pursue STEAM education.
  • Increase awareness on STEAM career paths.
  • Encourage WIE AGs to work with other OUs and non-IEEE organizations, such as government schools, educational institutes and other organizations who have the same objective.
  • Build a relationship between IEEE and schools to identify and find solutions for the greatest fears and worries of girls/women going into STEAM fields.

It is encouraged to submit a proposal in collaboration with one or more IEEE OUs or non-IEEE organizations in government, industry, or academia.
